The Powerhouse is envisioned to be an iconic mixed-use centerpiece for arts, retail and entertainment in downtown Jersey City with shops, galleries, restaurants, markets and alternative office space.
After years of deterioration, the Powerhouse will be going through a multi-year stabilization program to support and secure the exterior and interior infrastructure of the building.
The area surrounding the Powerhouse will serve the arts community and all residents of Jersey City with the creation of performance space, green space and pedestrian-friendly attractions for residents.
The ongoing stabilization of the historic H & M Powerhouse by the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency has entered a critical stage this spring with the removal of the smokestacks. more »
